Car Bingo – Chicago Version

Chicago car bingo may be one of those inventions that makes urban road trips fun again.

When we were in St. Louis over Christmas, one of the wee ones’ joys was to play car bingo as we drive in my in-laws’ car. It’s become the first thing they do when they climb into the car.

The only issue is when they can’t find items on their cards. Unfortunately, we don’t often see a post office or a wheel barrow or a ladder.

Fortunately, we can still generally manage to have someone get a bingo of five in a row before we get to our destination – but not always.

Of course, the wee ones want to know if they can play this when we get home and not just when we’re with the in-laws. Somehow, I don’t see the bingo going over too well.

The landmarks we have just aren’t the same as those that we see up in Chicago. I have a solution of course. I’m in the process of inventing my very own Car Bingo – Chicago version.

And if this already exists, hush. I don’t want to know!

Go ahead. Take a closer look.

So what do you think? Is this my million dollar idea? What would you put on your car bingo?

Don't forget the ever popular “car turning left from the right lane” and “naked hookers on Cicero Ave”

Tara – Here I thought it was just a Chicago thing…. It always amazes me when I go back to Minnesota and see how polite and quiet everyone is. And how you can get from point A to point B without a problem 😉

Pat – Ooooo I forgot the deer and such. They and the squirrels seem to have a death wish near us. Interestingly, I'd never seen a deer hit before a couple weeks ago :s

Sandra – Oh don't get me started on the cars driving slow. We have a 2 lane road near me where people seem to ALWAYS drive 10-15 mph below the speed limit now, and it drives me batty when I need to be somewhere and calculated the time based on normal speeds – and not then hitting every traffic light.

Heather – We definitely do a lot of waiting. That doesn't mean we're good at it though 😉

Melisa – I just might. We may have a Blissdom road trip, and how fun to have these to play!

Hilarious. You should go ahead and get those made up!

  6. Heather E says:

HAHAHAHAHAH! I laughed so hard when I read these because all I remember as a kid when I had to travel there to spend weekends with my dad was the WAITING FOREVER because of construction, traffic, etc!

    – snow piles taller than your car.
    – car driving way too slow in a no-pass zone.
    – bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.
    – train tracks in town-center.

    =)

These are great! For my rural area, I'd have “Deer on side of road about to jump in front of your car.” And more: Dead skunk, dead possum, dead deer, dead squirrel, traffic lights all flashing red, water tank.

  9. Tara R. says:

All of these would work in my town too! This bingo card would be popular here, looks like a winner to me.
