This incredibly simple grilled baby bok choy recipe is one of my favorites. It goes so well with so many dishes.
I never had bok choy until I was an adult. I don’t that’s super unusual for most adults, but I wish I’d trid it years earlier than I did. I first encountered it at a cooking class where I had little choice but to try it.
They sauteed it lightly in garlic and oil, and it tasted fantastic. Growing up I only had sauteed frozen spinach, and this blew it out of the water.
Since then, I’ve had fun experimenting with different ways to enjoy it. My current favorite? I do a super simple Asian flavored grilled baby bok choy that takes just over five minutes on the grill.
While I love eating this with grilled salmon or my miso glazed chicken, this is equally at home as a side for burgers and hot dogs. Try it with chicken satay skewers or stir-fried hokkien noodles, too.
It’s a light flavor and has a great crisped texture that pairs well with way more foods than you’d expect.
For me, this is the perfect side, simply because grilled baby bok choy cooks so quickly. While my food cooks, I can take the three minutes to clean and prep the veggie, then toss it on the grill as the rest of my food finishes cooking.
Voila, I feel healthy because I added greens to whatever I cooked!
With summer upon us, I grill as much as I possibly can. I’ve made my lemon chicken kebabs twice already this week. Who wants to heat up the kitchen with your stove and oven?
And yes, I make desserts on the grill, too. I love a s’mores pizza that I almost always cook on the grill, and grilled peaches with ricotta would be perfect for the little bit of ricotta I have left in my fridge after making all my fun picnic recipes the other day.

How to Make Grilled Baby Bok Choy
Take a sneak peek and watch the video showing exactly how to make this at home.
In the store, look for baby bok choy that has firm green leaves that don’t droop. Store them in your fridge in the crisper for a day or two until you’re ready to enjoy them.
Preheat your grill just under medium heat.
Start by making the sauce. Add brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and oil to a medium size bowl. Use a fork to quickly whisk together.
Cut off just the ends of the bok choy, then slice each bunch in half vertically. Wash to remove any sand or dirt inside, and shake off any excess water.
Add the bok choy to the bowl with the sauce and toss well to coat.
Lightly oil the grates of your grill. Add bok choy to your grill, with the cut side down. Close the lid and cook for five minutes. Flip if you choose and cook for another couple minutes. I often cook just on one side, and it’s perfect that way, too.
Use tongs to remove the grilled baby bok choy from the grill, and serve immediately. Drizzle the remaining sauce from your original bowl over the bok choy if you choose. This is best when served fresh.
If you need to store leftovers, let cool to room temperature then store in a tightly sealed container in the fridge for up to two days.

Love this! Best way to eat bok choy. Great sauce. I used sesame oil & added sriracha.
Both would be great additions. Well, except in my house where my son won’t eat anything with sriracha – I would love it that way though!

One of my favorite veggies is Bok Choy. Back when I lived in Singapore we use to get them in plenty so we ate them more often and in all Asian dishes. So simple and so easy to make. This looks so delicious grilled.
They are so simple, and they pair so well with so many Asian dishes. They work well for tons of other grilled recipes, too – and oh so easy. I love it grilled!
I’ve always wanted to make bok choy on the grill. I saw it once in a food magazine and was determined to make it one day. I like that you added a coating of marinade/seasoning before grilling it. It looks gorgeous with the salmon.
The little coating of marinade makes such a great addition to the bok choy. It was perfect to go with the salmon!
We love putting fruits and vegetables on the grill. Can’t wait to try bok choy next time!
Definitely add bok choy next time. It’s ready so fast and has so much flavor.
I have been wanting to try bok choy for some time now and this looks simple and delicious. A great healthy summer dinner!
It’s perfect for a healthy summer dinner – and I need more of those! I’ve been sadly lacking given my schedule lately.
I am all about grilling everything this time of year. Non-grilling season I roast veggies. Grilling season they are for sure cooked on the BBQ….hubby does a wonderful job. This looks like the perfect side to any protein.
Grilling is definitely high on my list this time of year. Every once in awhile, I forget to get my veggies in with it – but this makes it so easy to ensure they’re a part of my meal.
