This post with my Halloween front porch ideas is a sponsored post with BSM Media and At Home Stores. All opinions remain my own.
Halloween is fast approaching, and as my kids get older, they care more about our decor than their costumes. While I may miss the annual hunt for the “perfect” costume, I love heading to At Home with them to pick out holiday decorations.
This year, we’re focusing on our Halloween front porch theme. Our goal is to have a comfy space that welcomes guests all season long without breaking the bank. That includes both a seating area to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather and creating a welcoming entry to our Halloween front porch.
Halloween Front Porch: Entry Ideas
As we walked into At Home, my daughter spotted an adorable black cat statue covered in tinsel. She picked him up, named him, and announced our entry theme. I have to admit, the black cat theme works perfectly for our family. At Home has plenty of Halloween decor to fit whatever your fancy, whether you prefer Dia de las Muertes, skeletons, steampunk, haunted Harlequin, or another theme.
We planned to set the tinsel cat to the side of our door, and obviously we need a seasonal welcome mat. At Home came through with a fun extension of the cat theme for this. As the wee ones checked out all the Halloween themed welcome mat options, they kept coming back to happy haunting with a black cat, arched and hissing, just like their statue.
Lastly, any Halloween front porch needs a wreath at the door. While we had fun exploring all the options and almost came home with a traditional wreath formed of bats, we again came back to the black cat theme and found the perfect complement with this black cat tinsel wreath. The orange bowtie adds just the right touch.
Altogether, these three simple items make a great entryway for your Halloween front porch. Best of all, together this look cost us just over $25, and all items will last for years so we can recreate this look and add to it over time.
Halloween Front Porch: Cozy Seating
I’m lucky to have a fantastic wraparound porch on my house. When the weather cooperates, we love to spend time sitting outside in our patio set, whether eating a meal or just hanging out. The set we own is neutral, which allows us to change out pillows and other decor seasonally.
At Home has so many pillows. While some need to stay inside (I have my eyes on a few still!), many work well in a patio setting. We chose three, with the long trick or treat pillow with the oh so fun tassels my absolute favorite. I also picked up two candy corn pillows to complement the candy corn on the longer pillow. I think they’re absolutely adorable, and my daughter loves to cuddle up on the bench with them to ready.
Don’t ignore the table. Just a few items take it from plain to a fun and welcoming seating area. My vision included a display that had hints of a centerpiece without being so formal. While initially I planned to use a flat glass container, my daughter fell in love with aribbed jar, which still shows the colors of the Halloween shatterproof ornaments. At Home has so many glass jars and canisters all the time, so you can find one to fit your personal style. On either side, we added spider web pillar candles to add a slightly spooky touch. I love the gems embedded in them!
Again, everything I used to create this cozy seating nook for our Halloween front porch will last long beyond this season. For $65, I’m thrilled with the comfortable and welcoming atmosphere it creates. We’ve already spent time enjoying the space and know it fits our lifestyle perfectly.
Halloween Front Porch: Time for Trick or Treating
As my daughter pointed out, Halloween night gets a little crazy in our neighborhood. We have sidewalks and lots of kids, which means tons of visitors and nonstop candy action. When the weather holds out, we prefer to sit on our front porch and watch the trick or treaters to hand out candy, especially since it makes it easier to chat with friends and neighbors as they stop by.
That said, a glass jar – even filled with shatterproof ornaments – does not fit with kids tromping up and down. Instead, we decided to have a special Halloween night only display. The wee ones found the spookiest candy bowl in the store and begged me to buy it. I mean, who doesn’t want to serve candy from a skull?
As we’ve dealt with allergies for years, we always have allergen friendly treats to hand out, too. As more and more families become aware and accommodate allergies, this trend has grown. There’s now a teal pumpkin movement to signify that you’re a safe house. My kids insisted we add a teal pumpkin to our decor. Of course, they found the best one ever. They begged for this lustre glass pumpkin to display on our table. I added a resin stand to add to its grandeur, and our Halloween front porch display is complete.
Just these couple small items turn our seating area into the perfect spot to hand out candy Halloween night. Of course we kept the pillows in place, especially as the trick or treat pillow could not be any more perfect! Altogether these quick swaps add just $26 to create the perfect Halloween front porch.
