Last week I vlogged about how to peel garlic.
I’ve timed myself. I am capable of peeling and chopping an onion in 30 seconds. And I mean the right way not just hacking at it. It’s a super simple process that everyone should know because it seems like I’m chopping onions constantly, and I can’t be the only one.
That’s my trick. What do you have to teach me?
I love this tutorial!! My mom did something similar growing up but never verbalized to me just how to do it. The “smiling faces” makes it all so clear. Thank you!!
Thanks, Jessica! It’s funny but the smiling faces is one of those things that’s always stuck with me, too 🙂
I just learned that technique recently! I have to remember to grab the chef knife though. I’m always grabbing the smaller one.
Get your chef’s knife. My husband likes to try to cut and chop with a paring knife, and it drives me nuts because it’s dangerous when a knife is too small for the job.
Why do I always chop onion? The halve trick plus smiley face is wonderful!
We ALL always chop onions, don’t we? Try this trick out next time and see how quickly it goes.
This is very helpful. I learned recently how to properly cut an onion and it has saved me a lot of time as you are right onions are in everything!
Next, I need a hot to cut pineapple tutorial!
It does save a ton of time. And you know I have a how to cut a pineapple tutorial, right? 🙂

I do both of those things, too…I’ve learned them over the years. The longer you’ve been cooking, the more little tricks and short-cuts you have under your belt!
Absolutely. It’s all the little tricks and tips that you don’t realize you know. But oh the time savers are important, aren’t they?
