Mommy’s Strawberry Lemonade

Yesterday, I had lunch with my FnB friends. It’s been a long time as our lives have all gotten chaotic, but we missed our regular gatherings. We met at a friend’s house, each bringing offerings to the lunch. Our host made salad and gluten free pizzas. Another friend brought fruit and made a dip to go with it. And me? I brought the fixings for a grown up strawberry lemonade.

We don’t often drink during the day, but there are definitely some special occasions that call for a celebration with a cocktail, and our getting together yesterday after so long without seeing each other was one of those days. There are certain people you are with who are just a balm for your soul, who refresh you as you spend time with them. These friends are like that, and we have now vowed to at least get together for lunch once a month, if not full FnB again.

I try to find ways to spend my time that are a balm for my soul, which is why I spend so much time volunteering at our school and also why I look for quality blogging conferences to attend because I know I will walk away from them refreshed in body and soul, ready to tackle the next goal I’ve set for myself. The conference I have my eye on that fits the bill right now? That’s #SoFabCon14, which runs from May 8-10. I wasn’t able to attend last year, as Little Miss had her First Communion right smack dab in the middle of it. This year? It’s on my bucket list.

Social Fabric and #collectivebias rock my world. They share so much information, and I’ve grown so much as a blogger working with them, even on the periphery. I’ve developed so many relationships with so many other bloggers working virtually with them, but so few of them have I been able to put a face and voice to a name, let alone give a huge hug for the inspiration and help they’ve given me. And the conference itself is chock full of learning, whether it be about SEO and design or the best ways to use Pinterest and Google+ and so much more.

And of course, like all blog conferences, there will be fun and a chance to develop those virtual relationships into so much more. This year, SoFabCon will have the #NickMomPJParty that is so up my alley. When Collective Bias announced a contest to develop a cocktail as a chance to win an expenses paid trip to SoFabCon, you knew I was all over it. (After all, have you seen the other fun cocktails I’ve developed?)

I was drawing a blank though. Then the other night, I was sitting on the couch enjoying a treat. I had some lemon curd and strawberries and was dipping the strawberries into the lemon curd. It is heaven. When my husband asked what I was doing, I told him he had to just try a bite. He did and then tried to steal the rest of my plate, telling me it was like strawberry lemonade for adults. And my idea was born. How perfect would this be translated into Mommy’s Strawberry Lemonade?
