Classic Sugar Cookies
These classic sugar cookies have the texture you need to create cookies from a cookie cutter - and they taste great, too! You don't always get that combo.

Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flour
Instructions
- Beat butter and sugar until creamy.10 tablespoons unsalted butter, 3/4 cup sugar
- Add egg and vanilla, and mix to combine. Once mixed, turn it up to high again for another 30 seconds.1 egg, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Add salt and baking powder, and mix well. Add the flour, and stir slowly until combined.1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 cups flour
- Create two flat disks, wrapped in plastic. Chill 2 hours or overnight in your fridge.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Roll dough and cut into shapes.
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheets in 350 degree oven until edges are golden, about 7-9 minutes.
- Cool cookies on your sheets 5 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool completely
Notes
- You can reroll the scraps to make more cookies but try to get as many cookies onto each cutting as possible so that you aren't rolling out the scraps too many times. The cookies start to get tough as you continue to reroll.
