Scones are amazingly simple to make, and these mocha scones with a little drizzle look gorgeous for guests, too. Make these for your next gathering and celebrate!
Melt butter gently on the stove over medium low heat.
10 tablespoons butter
While the butter is melting, mix together your dry ingredients in a large bowl - flour, oats (not instant!), sugar, baking powder, and salt.
1 3/4 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups oats, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add your coffee and milk to a liquid measuring cup, along with the egg. You want 1/4 cup of coffee and the rest milk.
1/3 cup coffee mixed with milk, 1 egg
Whisk to combine thoroughly. Once the butter is melted, add it to the measuring cup and whisk, then add to your dry ingredients.
Stir gently with a spatula until just combined, then turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat your mocha scone dough into a circle about an inch thick. Cut your dough into 10 evenly sized triangle shaped scones.
Lay the scones onto a cookie sheet covered by a silpat or parchment paper. Lay them in opposite directions.
Bake in your 450 degree oven for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden and cracked on top.
While your scone are cooling, mix up the glaze. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a small bowl and add the coffee. Use a fork to stir until fully mixed.
