The BEST Carry On Liquid Travel Containers

While I love to pack carry on, it poses some challenges. I recently found the best liquid travel containers, and I can’t wait to share them with you. While this exact look is different on Amazon now, this is the TSA approved travel bottle set I recommend.

Even when I check a bag, I still put critical items in my carry on. I never want to be without travel documents, meds, a change of clothes, etc.

Carry On Liquid Rules

With the TSA 3-1-1 rule, of course I have to limit liquids in my carry on, and things like my sunscreen bottle and my leave in conditioner are definitely over the 3.4 ounce maximum.

Yes, 3.4 ounces is the maximum although people say 3 ounces because it’s easier. Use those extra 0.4 ounces to your advantage!

Many of the travel bottle sets are listed at 3 ounces or 3.0 ounces. Make sure you look for ones that are 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters, which is the same measurement, and the TSA approved travel set I recommend is 3.4 ounces.

Any liquids you bring within that size limit have to fit inside a zip top quart size bag. And you’re allowed only one bag per passenger.

I used to just buy travel size products, but that’s wasteful and can get expensive. When I found these liquid travel containers, I fell in love.

What Makes These the Best Liquid Travel Containers?

These containers come in bright colors in the right size, and they don’t leak. Period.

They are exactly what I need. In fact, they actually have some features I didn’t know I wanted until I saw them.

There are four containers, which gives you enough to pack what you need. In fact, I can fit these four into a quart bag and have room left over, so you can actually pick up a second set and use another one or two bottles if needed.

The bottles are made of BPA free silicone, which matters to me. I love the colors – the four different colors mean I quickly learn that blue is sunscreen so I don’t have to figure out what’s in each bottle like many others I’ve seen before.

Additionally, the bottles have labels – and not ones you stick on that are going to fall off soon. The silver labels twist to display Shamp, Cond, Sun, and Lotion and have a blank spot for you to write your unique label.

The wide mouth makes them easy for you to fill. Remember to tap the bottom ensures you have no air bubbles so you can fill them as much as possible.

The lids snap on tightly and don’t come loose once you screw them on. When you open the lid, there’s an X opening so liquid doesn’t immediately leak out, nor do you get too much as once when you squeeze the bottle.

As the bottle empties, the silicone helps you tell how much is left. Even better, the flexible silicone helps ensure you get absolutely everything out of the container so you don’t waste any product.

When you want the liquid to stay put, however, it does. I’ve tried to squeeze hard, but it stays closed. No explosions during your travels, which is a big relief for me.

One Caution about these Liquid Travel Containers

It is possible for these to leak. I say they’re absolutely the best liquid travel containers I’ve seen, but you still have to use them correctly.

When you take the lid off, the main base has the silicone go through it and lip up and around the base. When you put the base on, if you don’t make sure the silicone lip came all the way up and it even and level, you could end up with a spill.

It’s easy though. Just make sure it’s level and fully on, then secure the second portion of the top.

Once you put the lid back on, give it a test squeeze. If you feel any movement or air escaping, check the silicone lip and try again. It shouldn’t have any leak at all.
